Balls straight out of the box are slippery and hard to throw. I’ll strip the waxy coating off and remove the reddish tint. Then apply a conditioner to soften and darken the leather. The conditioning is followed by a mudding process which further darkens the ball and gives it better grip and a natural tackiness.
